Pat never wanted to stop making music. Even when his old bands broke up or took a break, he kept going. He had so much more to offer and was determined to share his passion and creativity any way he could. With that in mind, he used his drive and DIY spirit to focus his energy on something that was purely Pat Placzek: Zach Fanta.
Zach Fanta is Pat at his most confident, unapologetic, and vulnerable, revealing a side of him rarely heard of in his previous musical projects. I Ain't Tha 1, his debut EP, is a collection of songs about growing up, self-reflection, humiliation, and heartache. It's Pat front and centre, pouring his heart out. But it's also Pat finding that distinctive voice, something that had eluded him in the past. Something that his peers were anxious to hear again.
This album is Pat's final work and serves as a symbol of Pat's earnest and collaborative nature, for its completion would not have been possible without the support of his family, friends, and the music community. We were all eager to see this project through and share it with the rest of the world so that they too can experience the joy and shear force that is the one and only (though he claims he ain't), Pat Placzek.
It's been real.

Pat was writing and working on this EP continuously until he was no longer able to. Thanks to a lot of careful work those multitrack recordings have been mixed into a finished product that we hope he’d be proud of. Many people know that Pat was involved with a number of different musical projects over the years–giving his spirit and talent to peers and friends. Now we have the chance to experience this unheard area of Pat’s personal musical vision, with the man himself handling the vocals. It’s pure magic.
"I Ain't Tha 1" combines two mixes of Pat's EP, one by Dan Werb and one by Rob Cameron, giving us twice the music to enjoy.
Digital version includes tape liner notes.

Thanks to all for their contributions to this EP. Finally thanks to all the musicians and friends who supported Pat’s musical journey.
